To exhibit: is to expose oneself to the ubiquity of the present; to commentary, to criticism, to knowledge, and to the limiting and expansive beliefs surrounding aesthetic pleasure. It is to observe and appreciate what has been created. To live in the momentum of the here and now—with full attention—through a work that confronts a creative process and defines the artist through something: anger, ambition, despair, sadness, joy, regret, frustration, beauty, etc.—which shapes us and reflects life in the quest for transcendence. From the subtle and ephemeral stroke of an “emerging” artist to the solidity and character of an “established” artist. We do not speak—which is saying a lot—of when they become “posthumous.” That is: an immortal being, through their expressed freedom and the substance and quality of their materials.
At Galería Málaga, we seek to bring order to chaos through open and frank dialogue. We believe that art for art’s sake is the last bastion of the human condition; a refuge within its walls where the art on display can save the world from chaos. We are convinced that this is possible when the work is honest and sincere—rooted in the deepest respect for all other perceptions and ideas. Because diversity and leisure may be the only true path to self-knowledge. Because life is simple and joyful when filled with love for others. For love is what we always are—in gratitude and joy for the experience and dialogue that comes from knowing we are alive.
